“The Little Room”, by Stéphanie Chuat and Véronique Reymond

The name of the film is «  The Little Room », this movie was written and made by Stéphanie Chuat and Véronique Reymond. The film was created in 2010 in Lausanne, Switzerland. We can say it is a psychological film.

The place and the time of the action is contemporary Switzerland.

Rose is a nurse who takes care of the elderly. She lives with her husband. One day, doing her work, she helps an old man whose name is Edmond. She decides to tell him about her life, what is bothering her. She tells him she had been pregnant and nine months ago lost her baby. Because of this, she had closed in on herself. So she decides to tell Edmond everything and that will help her. So she can move on. First she decides not to leave Edmond in a nursing home, although his son wants him to go there. She invites him to live with her, then after confiding in him, she decides to turn the page on this disaster and decides to have a baby again. As for Edmond, one day he decides to leave home to go to the mountains that his wife loved very much and dies at Les Diablerets where his wife had died too.

Michel Bouquet plays Edmond, he is the main character; with Florence Loiret Caille they form a beautiful duo !

The directors, Stéphanie Chuat and Véronique Reymond, are best friends. The two friends are “ like an eagle with two heads” and share a common artistic vision.

They are actresses, they occur in theater, television and film. They write together and mix genres.

Véronique Reymond was born March 31, 1971, she has always lived in Lausanne.

She says she is shy but fun.

Her hobbies include: reading, watching movies, making jewelry and “watching plants grow”.

Her favorite actors are Ken Loach, Woody Allen and Pedro Almodóvar.

Stéphanie Chuat was born November 10, 1970 in Lausanne.

She is honest, intelligent, attentive, very funny even if she seems shy at first. But she is also stubborn.

Her hobbies include seeing her friends, trying to do some sport, going to the mountains, to the  library and to  the cinema. Her favorite actors are Ernst Lubitsch and Billy Wilder.

My opinion about the director’s work is positive, I think they have coped well. They chose a very good actor. There is nothing to say. I really liked it.

The actors have really played well all the scenes. With no fault. This allowed us to understand the film.

I think this is a movie to be seen, it is really well made, there’s good base and it’s a Swiss film!

The story makes us understand the need to confide in someone, although it is hard. When we entrust a person we can make a new start, we will again have confidence in us.
